SIGMOID VOLVULUS ” X-marks-the-spot sign “

Findings suggestive of large bowel obstruction due to Sigmoid Volvulus :-

Large gas filled bean shaped, closed loop of large bowel with loss of haustral with apex pointing toward the left lower quadrant of the abdomen associated marked twisting of mesenteric vessels (Whirl sign), also demonstrating X-marks-the-spot sign by crossing loops of bowel at the site of the transition.

Trace free fluid in lower abdomen. No evidence of bowel wall necrosis or pneumoperitoneum.
