D12 Chance fracture (seatbelt injury)

Acute post traumatic mild anterior wedge compression fracture involving the D10 vertebral body causing 10% reduction in vertebral height at anterior aspect with patchy marrow edema. No retropulsion of the cortex.

Slight anterior wedging of D5, D6, D8, D9-D10 vertebral bodies with normal marrow signals.

D12 Chance fracture :- A horizontal almost subchondral fracture traversing along the upper endplate of D12 Vertebra, part of D11-D12 intervertebral disc, extending posteriorly to involve D12 lamina, pedicles (involving all 3 Denis spinous columns). Adjoining paravertebral and posterior paraspinal muscle contusions are noted at D12 level.

Post-traumatic small posterior central disc herniation at D11-D12 level associated with small epidural hemorrhage causing mild cord compression.

A small focal T2 cord hyperintensity at D11-D12 level  suggestive of *cord contusion. . No evidence of cord transection in this study.
