diffuse type of acute leukoencephalopathy with restricted diffusion (ALERD)

Multifocal patchy and areas of restricted diffusions involving bilateral frontal , parietooccipital subcortical white matter, bilateral thalami and lentiform nuclei (not well evident on any other sequences) – likely suggestive of diffuse type of acute leukoencephalopathy with restricted diffusion (ALERD) versus acute hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.

Differential considerations also include:- Acute viral encephalitis.

No evidence of significant mass effect or mid line shift.

Recommend clinical correlation, further evaluation, follow up.
