neurofibromatosis type I (NF 1)

Marked lumbar dural ectasia causing scalloping on the posterior vertebral margins

Multiple bilateral fusiform and elongated T2 hyperintensities are noted which are hypointense on T1Wt sequences involving multilevel cervical, thoracic, lumbar as well as sacral bilateral neural foramina from C2-C3 to S4-S5 levels , following the paths of nerve roots – consistent with bilateral lumbosacral plexiform neurofibromas – suggestive of neurofibromatosis type I (NF 1)

No imaging evidence of any aggressive behavior or malignant transformation of any of the peripheral nerve sheath tumors in this non-contrast study – recommend IV contrast, routine periodic follow up imaging, HPE.
